    Cruise to Egypt

    Egypt has one of the richest, oldest and most varied cultures in the world. A country full of mystery and ancient spectacular sights that include the Pyramids and the Sphinx, treasures that defy time and value. The Cairo Museum, one of the richest in the world, contains some of the finest antiquities including the treasures of Tut-Ankh-Amon.



    Egypt - CAIRO / Full Day Excursion (Ref C)

    Cairo - known to be one of the most mysterious and fascinating cities in the world. The jewel of the Nile and the heart of ancient civilisation. Just a few words are needed to conjure up the magnificence and splendour of Cleopatra's Empire and Tutankhamuns all-powerful domain. In Cairo the Egyptian Museum will be visited, where some of the finest specimens of antiquities can be admired including the treasures from the tomb of Tutankhamun, collections of jewellery and some of the most precious objects ever discovered. Shimmering in the desert are the Pyramids, one of the seven wonders of the world and the Sphinx, a witness to Egypt's compelling past, daunting in its wake. Finally, a Papyrus factory and an oriental souvenir shop will be visited where you can buy fantastic souvenirs to take home to remind you of the splendours of Egypt.

    Full Day Excursion (Operated only on Wednesday departures)

    Depart Port Said for Cairo, passing very close to the Suez Canal. Continuing on through the Desert road, we bypass the City of Cairo, and arrive at the ruins of the historic City of Memphis, once the capital of ancient Egypt. See the ruins of this important site, and wonder at the enormous statue of Ramses III amongst other fascinating exhibits. We drive on to the Necropolis of Sakkara, where we visit some ancient Egyptian tombs. The tombs usually consisted of an underground building with beautiful wall paintings, depicting Life in ancient Egypt.

    Leaving Sakkara, we drive on to the Citadel of Salah El Din, which amongst other treasures, houses the world famous "Alabaster Mosque". From the high walls of the Citadel, you will have a panoramic view of the City of Cairo, which lies beneath it.
