    Cruise to Syria

Syria does not only boast a wealth of historic heritage that goes back to the early days of mankind and human civilizations, but also offer a uniquely diverse cultural, architectural, social, and historical variety.

Situated at the crossroads of the Old World, Syria had become a melting point of major influences and great movements of the civilized world.

Many kingdoms and empires were born and had vanished on its soil, leaving a fascinating story to be told, and a huge number of archeological sites to be visited. No wonder Syria is known today as the cradle of civilizations.

History is not the sole element that makes Syria a particularly attractive place to visit. It is the combination of its rich heritage, vibrant and colorful modern-day life, legendary friendliness and hospitality of its people, astonishingly varied nature of the landscape, mild climate, and incredulous shopping opportunities that makes it a must for the discerning tourist.

    Syria - TARTOUS

We enter Syria through Tartous, Syria's main Commercial Port. Syria is a most amazing country, where Western civilization blends beautifully with the Orient. Stroll around the various Bazaars of the port for that super extra bargain or join one of our shore excursions for either some serious shopping or visit some of the most renowned Archaeological sites of the world.

    * Passengers with Israeli stamp in their passport will not be allowed to disembark.

Syria - SHOPPING IN DAMASCUS (Ref: S)

After Immigration formalities, we board the Air-Conditioned coaches for our shopping trip to Damascus, escorted by a Local Escort..Our first stop is the Bazaar of "Hamidieh", the largest undercover market of Damascus. In the hundreds of shops there, you can find most personal or household items, Curtains, Towels, Carpets, spices, Gold and Silver and Souvenirs at unbelievably low prices. The traditional "bargaining" is a MUST. After the Hamidieh Bazaar, we board the buses again for a visit to the "Bab Touma" district of Damascus. Here you will find some of the finest shops for clothing of well-known brands, also at unbelievably low prices. Again "bargaining" is recommended here.

After Bab Touma, we board the buses for our return journey back to Tartous and the ship.

    * Passengers with Israeli stamp in their passport will not be allowed to disembark.

Syria - THE ANCIENT CITY OF PALMYRA (Ref: Y)

After Immigration formalities, we board the air-conditioned coaches, escorted by a Professional Guide, for Palmyra, a distance of about 250 km. Situated in the middle of the desert, ancient Palmyra was a necessary stopping place for the Caravan travellers from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean. The city flourished during the 1st and 2nd centuries after the Romans invaded Syria.

Palmyra is probably the best-known Archaeological Complex in Syria, dating back to the Greco-Roman era, parts of which have either been saved or restored. We visit the Valley of the Tombs, the Bell Temple which is probably one of the best preserved monuments, the small museum of Palmyra and finally the ruins of Palmyra City with the Theatre, the Agora and the Collonade street.

Time will be given for lunch in lunch-boxes provided by the ship, before returning back to the ship. Short stops will be made on the way to Palmyra and on the way back.

    * entrance fee of US$ 7,50 for all Archaeological Sites, which is payable directly to the Guide on the Bus.

    * Passengers with Israeli stamp in their passport will not be allowed to disembark.
